Intrusion 2 engine1/12/2024 ![]() No word of a release date yet, but the team will be at GDC. It's subject to change, but the concept is that "you need to choose 3 characters before the level starts, each with their attack/weapon and passive effects, and you can collect new characters along the way."Īlso I guess it has a kind of robot scorpion bus. Those characters are swapped in and out automatically in the midst of the action when you execute different kinds of attack. The game is called Jetpack Squad because you have a jetpack, and because you control a squad of characters with different abilities. ![]() They're using the Unity engine, so it should be a little smoother than Intrusion 2 and a Windows, Mac and Linux release is planned. The new game is being designed and programmed by Intrusion 2's Alexey Abramenko, but with art from Aleks Nikonov. ![]() Look at the way the robot legs scamper away when its head has been destroyed. Who even needs words to explain to appeal of this. Now its designer is making a new game called Jetpack Squad and the GIFs of its in-development form are enough to suggest it's even more physicsy, expansive and silly. Then you get given a mech suit with a sword and shotgun. And when you destroy the rest of it, you go sliding down a mountain by using its remains as a snowboard. ![]() When you destroy its helicopter blades, it uses its arms to drag itself towards you along the ground. It punches at you then pumps its fist when it wins. So, for example, one of its bosses is a helicopter with arms. It's a 2D side-scrolling shooter with physics-driven animation and a commitment to expansively silly action. But that won't be anytime soon.Intrusion 2 is one of the best games. So anyway, maybe I'll revisit this final level some day, and try one more time. But what I see is that the devs got selfish here and didn't want to make it easy for anyone, or at least to some very patient few to beat the game. And it's really a shame because Intrusion 2 is a good game. I would say, I probably don't suck, and the combination of not very well balanced physics, crappy controls and the difficulty setting in this game not working, is to blame here. Well having almost 100%ed all Batman Arkham City achievements and having played Super Meat Boy, amongst other things too. But their low is apparently really high because I still didn't beat the game! But maybe I suck and that's why I couldn't beat the final boss you may say. I got pissed because I was playing the game on normal difficulty until then, and I had to change it to Low difficulty, as the game calls it. But I didn't got pissed because I was trying for 3 hours. I tried, I tried and I tried for 3 hours, the same time it took me to clear all the previous levels and get here. I tried very hard to defeat that big-giant robot. Now is the time to take all that fun and destroy it! Intrusion 2 is inspired by classic 16bit era sidescrollers and focuses on classic fast paced action combined with modern physics and animation. The action is set in sci-fi environment on a reserve planet occupied by hostile military corporation conducting weapon research. (You probably guessed this is the part I got pissed) Because this game will punish you really hard for having fun all that time. Intrusion 2 is an action platformer being developed in flash. Just stop playing at the final boss battle. Also you jump by pressing up on the analog stick or the A button, both of which kinda break down and don't work when the combat gets intense.Īnyway you can easily overlook those issues for a good game right? Yes you can. You can't even press down on the D-Pad to navigate the menu screen, it requires that you to play with the cursor by using the Analog sticks to do so. In case you didn't notice in the trailer there is a mouse cursor in the game! Why? Maybe the devs were influenced by developing this in Flash, which has a lot of mouse-over functionality, but none of which is in any way implemented in the combat system. You would think that a 2D shooting game is meant to be played with a controller right. I played (almost) the entire game with an Xbox 360 controller. Needless to say that the boss battles in this game suffer from major balancing issues between the physics, and the controls which I'll talk about now. As in, you must rely on it and hope that the barrels, stones and boxes behind of which you take cover, will remain there, when trying to dodge fireballs, lasers, rockets and lava! Just hope that you are really lucky. Thanks to the surprisingly good physics engine in the game.īut the physics in this game is also a curse. I enjoyed the mechs, especially one mech with a grappling hook mechanic, you can really make dudes and robots fly with that one. yeah! It takes some referenced from old games like Metal Slug, and Contra in the final boss battle. And a bad-ass woolf that you can ride, shoot lasers from and eat your enemies. It has a lot of fun levels, good variety of guns and enemies. Alright I'll start by saying what I liked about the game and what really pissed me off.
